The short version

This site has no advertising cookies, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. It doesn’t know who you are, it doesn’t follow you to other websites, and it doesn’t build a profile of you.

What it does have is a handful of technical cookies that WordPress needs in order to work, and one entry in your browser’s local storage that remembers you’ve already read the short notice at the bottom of the page — so it doesn’t show up again on every page.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. On the next page, or the next visit, the site can read it back. Some are indispensable — they’re how a site remembers you’re logged in, or that you’ve already dismissed a banner. Others exist to follow people around the internet. This site uses only the first kind.

The same rules apply to similar technologies such as local storage, which this site uses in one place: to remember that you’ve seen the notice.

What this site uses

Strictly necessary

These do not require your consent, because without them the site cannot work properly.

ss_cookie_notice

Remembers that you’ve already seen the privacy notice, so it stops appearing. Stored in your browser’s local storage, never sent to the server, and holds nothing but a date.

12 months

wordpress_test_cookie

Set by WordPress to check whether your browser accepts cookies at all.

Session

wordpress_logged_in_*

Keeps a logged-in user signed in. Only ever set for the site administrator, never for visitors.

Session

wp-settings-*

Stores admin interface preferences. Again, administrators only.

12 months

Analytics and advertising

None. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no Meta pixel, no advertising network, and no tracking script of any description.

External resources

Two things on this site are loaded from servers that aren’t mine. Neither sets a cookie, but your browser has to contact them, which means your IP address reaches them each time a page loads. Under European rules an IP address counts as personal data, so it’s worth saying plainly where it goes.

Typefaces

The two fonts used throughout the site, served by Google Fonts. Your browser requests the font files; nothing you do on the site is sent along with that request.

Animation library

The code behind the small movements as you scroll, served by jsDelivr. Again a plain file request, with nothing about you attached to it beyond the IP address any request carries.

Both providers may process that request outside the European Union. Neither receives anything you type on this site, and neither is used to recognise you or follow you anywhere.

This is disclosed rather than offered as a choice. The two resources are part of how the pages are built, so the honest thing is to tell you they’re there instead of putting a button in front of you that wouldn’t really switch them off. If you would rather your IP didn’t reach them at all, a browser extension that blocks third-party requests will stop both, and every page here will still work — you’ll see the site in your device’s own fonts, with everything appearing immediately instead of fading in.

Links to other sites

Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, WhatsApp and Matrimonio.com are linked from this site, but nothing from them is embedded here. Nothing loads from those platforms unless you click through, at which point you’re on their site and under their rules.

The notice at the bottom of the page

The first time you arrive, a short notice appears at the bottom of the screen summarising what’s on this page. Dismissing it is remembered for twelve months, after which it appears once more. It sets nothing beyond that single local-storage entry, and the site behaves identically whether you’ve dismissed it or not.

Browser settings

Independently of anything on this site, every browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking all of them will break the login on most websites, including this one’s admin area, but ordinary visitors won’t notice any difference here.

How your data is handled more generally is explained in the privacy policy.
